Lake Superior Marine Unit
Three COs are assigned to the Lake Superior Marine Unit in Duluth, MN. The Marine Unit patrols the Minnesota waters of Lake Superior and the tributaries that flow into the lake. The members of the Marine Unit provide seasonal enforcement during the spring steelhead run, the fall salmon run, and summertime commercial and sport fishing on Lake Superior. They also work with the US Coast Guard on Search and Rescue incidents on Lake Superior. The cold and sometimes violent waters of Superior require special equipment and watercraft not normally seen on Minnesota's inland lakes.
